Kowalczyk earns All-Academic honors

Menomonee Falls graduate Bonnie Kowalczyk recently capped off a stellar sophomore year for the St. Scholastica (Minnesota) women's softball team by earning Upper Midwest Athletic Conference All-Academic honors.

Majoring in management, Kowalczyk needed to attain a minimum of a 3.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) to earn the honor. Her softball season as catcher for the Saints was just as good, as she was UMAC Player of the Year and earned third-team All-Region honors after hitting .409 with 47 hits, 35 RBIs, a .482 on-base percentage and a .662 slugging mark. She was also named to the league's All-Defensive team.

Woosencraft continues to earn track honors

Retired Menomonee Falls High School Principal Richard P. Woosencraft earned All-American honors when he won the age 65-69 division of the shot put and the discus in the recently held Badger State Games. Woosencraft said he went against a competitive field of approximately seven throwers in winning his titles.

Woosencraft, a regular on the Masters' Track Circuit, had preceded that effort with victories in the shot and discus in a recent USTF-Wisconsin Association meet at Carroll University in Waukesha.

He is competing in a total of five meets this season.
