GT wrestling team hosts golf outing

The Germantown wrestling team will host its first 18-hole golf outing at Blackstone Creek on Aug. 6 at 1 p.m.

The 18-hole fundraiser, which will go toward the purchase of new mats for the grapplers, costs $85 and includes 18 holes of golf, dinner, an auction, prizes and lunch.

Those just wishing to have dinner will pay $25.

Falls Youth Baseball team posts Sweet 16 national finish

The Menomonee Falls U-12 Gray baseball team earned a best-ever Sweet 16 national finish out of a 104-team field in an event recently played at Cooperstown Dream Park in New York.

The team went 6-0 in pool play and defeated a team from California before losing a tough 9-7 decision to a unit from Kansas in single-elimination play.

The Falls team hit 14 home runs, led by Ty Weber with five and Zach Kornburger and Boyd Sansone with three each.

Falls also posted a first-place finish in the Wisconsin State Youth Baseball League and earned first-place tournament finishes in Greenville and Burlington in Wisconsin and Downers Grove, Ill.

The final record for the team was 41-4. The Grays were coached by Mike Emmer, Ralph Kornburger, Dave Weber and Jim Wright.

Falls soccer scrimmage to be held Aug. 14

The 2010 Menomonee Falls mens soccer alumni scrimmage game versus the 2010 varsity will be held on Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. at the high school soccer stadium.
