Germantown — A vote to accept the 2014-15 Germantown School District calendar passed, 6-1, with Bruce Warnimont saying, "No."

According to the presented calendar, teachers start Aug. 25, when they have four days of combined classroom preparatory time and in-service time. Students begin Sept. 2.

Spring Break is scheduled to run April 3 to 10. The students' final day of school is June 1, with teachers working an additional half-day June 12.

Additional summer school classes presented

Germantown — The School District presented a tentative listing of summer school classes, which they want to implement in June.

The course recommendations emphasized student support, helping students not lose any progress they gained throughout the regular school year, said Brenda O'Brien, director of teaching and learning.

A proposal to run three classes, high school band, middle school band and game leader training for fourth- and fifth-graders was presented to the board. These courses have been offered in previous years.

Two additional courses were proposed by district faculty: a 10-day Greek mythology course for fourth- and fifth-grade enrichment and a five-week genre writing workshop for high school enrichment.

No action was taken by the board.
