Case Settlement

The case brought by Ann Kaczmarek against the Village of Germantown and Tom Kempinski has been settled.

The insurance company for the village made a settlement payment of $75,000 to Kaczmarek, and the village made no payment to Kaczmarek.  There can be no further action brought on a civil basis by either party against the other.

Voter ID Impact

There is discussion of a new voter ID bill given Republican control in Madison.  The Village Clerk advised me that there doesn’t appear to be significant impact for her office if such a rule were to be implemented.  It would add a ‘verification of identification’ step to the process but that would not be a significant impediment.

Snow Clearing

A reduction in the number of village employees does not seem to have adversely affected snow clearing operations, at least so far as roadways are concerned.  The streets were cleared promptly in the latest bout with the white stuff.  The sidewalk clearing may be a bit slower now than in the past, although that is only a causal observation since I only look at those versus walking on them.  Others may have a different take.
